Greaves E5+ Engine
The intake valve is the mechanical component in the cylinder head responsible for opening and closing access to the combustion chamber for fresh air (or an air/fuel mixture). On the Greaves E5+ twin-cylinder diesel engine, used in certain versions of the Ligier JS50 and Ligier Myli, this component operates at high speed. It opens during each cycle to allow the engine to draw in the air required for diesel combustion, then closes tightly to withstand the extreme pressure of the compression and combustion phases.
