The oil separator (also known as a breather unit or decanter block) plays a vital role in managing internal engine fluids. On the Greaves E5+ twin-cylinder diesel engine, used in certain versions of the Ligier JS50 and Ligier Myli, the downward movement of the pistons generates significant air pressure in the crankcase. This air becomes loaded with fine hot oil droplets, forming oil vapors.
